David Cook releases his new single, “The Last Goodbye”, from his highly anticipated sophomore release, This Loud Morning tomorrow. This uptempo rock track is a perfect introduction to the new album, and the slightly heavier rock edge he’s taking with his music.
Up until now, all we’ve had…
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
Day 30: Favorite Song this time last year #30daysongchallenge
Need You Now by Lady Antebellum
Its hard to believe that this song has been out for so long! I was a fan of Lady A when I first heard I Run to You and instantly fell in love with NYN (so did the rest of the world, ha!) So glad they raked in the grammy’s. They are incredible live and their music & lyrics have meaning which is my criteria for great music. :)
Day 29: Song from your childhood #30daysongchallenge
Shout by Tears for Fears
I can still picture my brother sitting next to me in the backseat with his OP shorts, polo shirt & Vans shoes. In my mind he has his walkman cassette player and headphones and is singing this at the top of his lungs! I also remember sneaking a peak at MTV (which I wasn’t allowed to watch, LOL) and watching this video!
Runner up: Our House by Madness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqn5AIdd-9k
Fair-weather Friend by To Have Heroes
I hate that I have ever been a fair-weather friend to anyone, but the truth is, I have. So, yeah, this song makes me feel guilty. But on the flip side it makes me want to be a better friend to the ones I care about.
Day 27: Song you wish you could play
Hold My Heart by Sara Bareilles
Like I said in the previous post, I’m teaching myself to play piano again. I would love to learn to play this song! Maybe some day. :) BTW I absolutely love Sara’s new album! Go check it out!
Runner up: Chances by Five for Fighting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8cfbBgXIow
Day 26: Song you can play on an instrument #30daysongchallenge
Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell
Say what you want about the Twilight series, this song is beautiful. I learned to play the piano when I was 7 and I wish I had appreciated it back then. I’m slowly teaching myself to play again. :) Through the help of some online tutorials I learned to play this. I also played the flute in elementary school and could probably play a song on it (since I still remember the finger placements, HA!) BTW, the video I posted is NOT of me playing it, LOL.
Day 25: Song that makes you laugh #30daysongchallenge
Pray for You by Jaron and the Long Road to Love
I think I’ve posted this song on twitter before. It makes me laugh EVERY TIME I hear it. :) Here’s the 2nd video on VEVO:

I havent been to church since I don’t remember when
Things were goin’ great ‘til they fell apart again
So I listened to the preacher as he told me what to do
He said you can’t go hatin’ others who have done wrong to you
Sometimes we get angry, but we must not condemn
Let the good Lord do His job and you just pray for them
I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill
I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
Just know where ever you are honey, I pray for you
I’m really glad I found my way to church
‘Cause I’m already feelin’ better and I thank God for the words
Yeah I’m goin’to take the high road
And do what the preacher told me to do
You keep messin’ up and I’ll keep prayin’ for you
I pray your tire blows out at 100 and 10
I pray you pass out drunk with your best friend and wake up with his and her tattoos
I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill
I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
Just know wherever you are, near or far, in your house or in your car,
wherever you are honey, I pray for you.
Day 24: Song to play at your funeral #30daysongchallenge
The Light by Sara Bareilles
This was a tough one for me. I don’t like thinking about death. This song can be interpreted in so many ways. I think the lyrics are beautiful and about trusting in someone or even a “higher power”.
Runner up: Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood

Day 23: Song you would play at your wedding #30daysongchallenge
When I got married in 1999 our wedding song was “I Could Not Ask for More” by Edwin McCain. It was still popular at the time and simply THE perfect wedding song. If I HAD to choose another song to play at my wedding (if it were today) I would pick “Everything” by Lifehouse. The lyrics are beautiful. However, it would have to be a shortened version 6+ minutes for a first dance is a LONG time. LOL I loved when Jason Wade sang a few songs acoustic at the Lifehouse concert in November. This song in particular was beautiful. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhxTFLNMIDQ
